TWA-NAT, the museum’s Sahaptin name, is a pledge,
“to follow….
for generations to come in the ways of our people,
preserving the heritage of our past
and the hopes and dreams of our future,
living in harmony with all things.”
For the People of Warm Springs, the sources of wisdom are the earth, sky and water of their natural world. To keep their pledge, they each must become their best selves, nurturing the personal values needed to preserve their heritage, create their future and live a harmonious life. Viewing their museum through the printmaking lens aspires to better reveal how it participates in conveying the wisdom of the elders and the values inherent in protecting and cherishing the natural world.
